I live and paint in the state of Washington, and I personally create only hand-painted portraits. I stress this because there are portrait sites on the web which sell computer-generated pet portraits printed from client photos, which attempt to simulate the appearance of a painted portrait.
Also, there are portrait art websites which outsource your portrait commission to anonymous artists in developing countries. With such companies, you may not have your choice of artist, and your input may not be welcome during the painting process.
