With the visual aid of a reference photo (or photos) attached to an e-mail sent to me by the client, I paint each portrait using soft pastels on heavy-guage archival-quality Canson Mi-Teintes pastel paper. The portrait is then mounted on stiff, professional grade foamcore backing, and tastefully matted in preparation for framing.

If travelling to the subject's location is an option, I can take the reference photos myself if that is preferred.

All that's needed is a photo and a refundable deposit of 10% to begin work on your portrait.

After I have accepted your photo(s) as a basis for the portrait, a refundable deposit of 10% of the portrait fee is required to reserve your place in my list of commissions. This deposit can be sent to me via PayPal or by check or money order through the mail. PayPal payments are made through a link to PayPal's secure payment webpage, which I will email to you.

Then what happens?

When work on your portrait is complete, I will send a photo of the completed portrait to you via e-mail. Reasonable alterations can be made to the portrait if that is desired. Once you have approved the portrait after viewing the final confirmation photo, delivery of the portrait is made commensurate with payment in full. If you decide to not proceed with purchase, your initial deposit amount will be refunded to you.

PayPal can now process your payments even if you do not have a PayPal account! When you are ready to purchase your portrait, I will send you a PayPal invoice via email which enables you to do so using their user-friendly and secure online payment website.

Payment can also be made by check or money order.

Framing your Pet Portrait

As mentioned above, your portrait is mounted on stiff acid-free foamcore board, and is tastefully matted to compliment the portrait's tonality. For your convenience, my portraits are sized and matted for standard-size picture-ready frames, which are widely available at stores. When I need to frame artwork for my home, I choose from a large selection of pre-built frames at a craft store chain called Craft Warehouse, and they do the framing of the art for me at no extra charge. There are many internet sites which also sell many styles of pre-built frames. Since the choice of a frame style is a matter of personal taste, I leave the framing of the portrait to you. Once framed under glass, the portrait will keep its original beauty for generations.

A pictorial background setting can personalize a portrait and enhance it aesthetically. The client may request a type of natural setting that suggests the pet's locale,or a custom background can be painted using a specific photograph.
